Entrepreneurship: nature or nurture?

business meeting with two men

Are entrepreneurs born or made? That’s the subject of this AOL Small Business video. Entrepreneurship is a complex and challenging world. Some are born with the requisite personality traits to do very well, and others must learn them through study or trial and error. Even many people who naturally have the intelligence, adaptability and creativity can fail if they don’t have enough work ethic and persistence. On the other hand, natural-born hard workers can slave away until they drop, but if they never work smart, they aren’t likely to succeed as an entrepreneur.

I think that almost anyone has the ability to become an effective entrepreneur. Much of that potential is never actualized, but it’s there nonetheless. The huge number of business opportunities in the world today accommodate a wide variety of personalities and interests. If you enjoy working with your hands, crunching numbers, mentoring young people, traveling, cooking, or even just socializing, there are opportunities for you to start your own business. Or at the very least to develop an extra source of income. All you have to do is find that opportunity, and get started.
